José Manuel Moreira is a Full Professor of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal. He received a first degree in Economics in 1974
from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, a first degree in Philosophy in 1980 from the University of Porto, Portugal, and his PhD degree in 1992 – with a thesis on the
philosophy and methodology of economics of F. A. Hayek – from Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid, Spain.
He is the Director of the MSc in Public Management and Administration at UA and of the Master in Public Administration, at UCP-Porto in association with UA. He also
leads the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy at UA. He has collaborated with the Institute for Political Studies (at UCP), the University of
Porto Business School, the National Institute of Administration, and the Order of Engineers in Portugal. He is a Member of the Mont Pèlerin Society and also of the
Research Board of “Center for Ethics, Business and Economics” at UCP. He has published numerous books and articles on business ethics, public administration,
the history, philosophy and methodology of economics, the market economy and the role of the entrepreneur, social and political philosophy, public policy and ethics.
