The Open Class, aimed especially at students, explored the challenges that democratic systems currently face and discussed, in a participatory session, new approaches and models of democratic innovation capable of strengthening civic participation and rebuilding the social pact for the future.
Georg Diez, a fellow of the Max Planck Society and ProjectTogether, is renowned for his work on social transformation, innovation in democracy and collaborative responses to global crises. He is the author of the Substack newsletter ‘Survival in the 21st Century’ and recently published the book ‘Kipppunkte. Von den Versprechen der Neunziger zu den Krisen der Gegenwart’ (‘Tipping Points: From the Promises of the 1990s to the Crises of the Present’), in which he analyses the historical transitions that shape the contemporary world.
The initiative reinforces IEP commitment to promoting current, critical and open debates, bringing students closer to the issues that define the future of democratic societies.
