Assistant Professor with Aggregation in Marine Sciences at FCUL
 

José Guerreiro is a Biologist with a PhD in Ecology and Biosystematics, Assistant Professor with Aggregation in Marine Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL). He develops research and teaches in the field of Environmental and Marine Governance and coordinates the Research Group on Ocean Governance and Sustainability of the MARE Centre (Centre for Marine and Environmental Sciences). He also teaches at the Faculties of Sciences of the Agostinho Neto University in Angola and Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique. He is the coordinator of the initiative to promote blue entrepreneurship Mare Startup (https://mare-startup.pt/). He has held the following public positions: Secretary of State for the Environment, General Director of the Environment (DGA), President of the Environmental Promotion Institute (IPAMB), President of the Monitoring Committee of the Vasco da Gama Bridge. He was President of the Association of Biologists from 2001 to 2007. He has been a member of the National Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development since 2001 and of the National Council of the Association of Biologists since 2008
