Master’s Degree Admission Requirements

Eligible for application to the Master’s Degree Programs are all holders of undergraduate degrees (1st cycle).

2nd phase - 6 de July (monday) to 31 August (monday)​

Interview – 4 September

Enrollment –  7 to 9 September


Documents required on application:

  • Online Registration Form;
  • 2 recommendation letters;
  • 1 photocopy of an identification document;
  • CV with picture;
  • Academic transcript;
  • 2 essays written in English (2*2,500 words maximum);
  • Payment of application fee 110€ (1st phase) or 160€ (2nd phase).

Delivery of Documents:

  • All documents should be sent immediately after submitting the application to;
  • Documentation regarding academic qualifications referred to in the respective CV may be sent to within a maximum of 10 (ten) working days prior to the academic semester beginning, with the application being conditional to completing this requirement;
  • All documents may also be submitted on paper directly to the IEP Secretariat;
  • The originals of all documents delivered in a digital or photocopied paper format need only to be presented on the formal act of registration.

Application Fee

Following submission of applications, students receive an email with instructions on how to pay the application fee. The application process only begins with payment of this fee.

Candidate Evaluation

Candidate selection takes into account the following:

  • Final undergraduate degree classification;
  • Relevant Curriculum Vitae contents;
  • Due consideration of student’s essays;
  • Due consideration of student’s letters of recommendation.      

Candidates are notified about the evaluation and final decision within a period of no more than 15 working days following the conclusion of each phase.

Enrolment Procedures

1. Ground Floor: School Secretary (please take the respective queue-ticket)
Timetable: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30 am - 12.30 pm | 2 pm - 5 pm, Thursdays from 9.30 am - 6 pm

Documentation required:

  • Duly completed registration form and inquiry;
  • Passport-size picture (or 1 colour photocopy);
  • Vaccination book demonstrating up-to-date tetanus vaccination;
  • Photocopy of identification documentation (Identity Card, Citizenship Card or Passport) and photocopy of taxation card (please also show originals);
  • Non-European Union international students have to deliver their study visa or residential permit through to the beginning of the 2nd semester of the 2011-2012 academic years; all original certification are to be returned.

2. Ground floor: Treasury (please take the respective queue-ticket)
Timetable: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30 am - 12.30 pm | 2 pm - 5 pm, Thursdays from 9.30 am - 6 pm

The payment of enrolment and registration is carried out simultaneous with the first monthly fee, corresponding to 30 ECTS. During October, this latter payment is corrected in accordance with the actual number of ECTS for which the student is enrolled.

3. 2nd Floor: Institute for Political Studies Course Secretary 
Receive your PIN number for access to the ESCA and register for the courses of the semester (E-Services to Academic Citizens - student personal page and other online services)

4. Ground Floor: Loja do Cartão (please take the respective queue-ticket)
Please go to Loja do Cartão (Ground Floor), in order to request your provisional UCP Identification Card.
