MA in Governance, Leadership and Democracy Studies Awards

The awards are presented during the Alexis de Tocqueville Lecture and Graduation Ceremony.

Since January 2014, the IEP has awarded the Lord Acton Award and the Alexis de Tocqueville Award to students enrolled in the MA in Governance, Leadership and Democracy Studies.

These awards are strictly honorary and do not include any form of financial compensation. However, they are recorded in the Diploma Supplement and constitute a meaningful distinction that enhances the academic credentials of the recipients.

For both awards, only Master's students who are formally enrolled in the programme and whose financial status is regularized at the time the results are determined and announced are eligible.

In each academic year, the Lord Acton Award is granted to students currently enrolled in the programme who have achieved an overall average grade of 17/20 or higher and have successfully completed at least 57 ECTS credits over the two academic semesters.

In each academic year, the IEP awards the Alexis de Tocqueville Award to the best-performing student currently enrolled in the programme who has completed 57 ECTS credits within a maximum of two semesters.
