COVID-19
Notice of 23 November 2020
Considering the implementation of restrictive measures sanctioned by the Government on November 21st, adjusted to the evolution of the pandemic conditions in high-risk districts, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, loyal to a strict containment policy, will apply additional preventive measures in all 4 campi, on November 30 and December 7.
The following measures are secured by the University’s technological platforms that will allow remote work for the staff and virtual classroom sessions for faculty and students.
1. On both days, all teaching and training activities will be offered online. Staff will work remotely, whenever their functions allow it.
2. As a precautionary measure all UCP buildings will be closed but the university will continue to work with its usual intensity through remote systems.
3. Schools will provide any additional information not covered by this notice to their faculty and staff. All users may access the online services provided on the platforms, following the information available on the institutional website.
4. All public defenses scheduled for those two days will take place via videoconferencing.
At this critical moment the Rector wishes serenity and courage to everyone, so that together we may overcome these circumstances unscathed.
Isabel Capeloa Gil
Rector

"Palestra Anual Alexis de Tocqueville 1998-2018" (Alexis de Tocqueville Annual Lecture 1998-2018) Book
Essentially, the book brings together the Alexis de Tocqueville Annual Lectures, which began in 1998. These are formal ceremonies to award diplomas which are preceded by a lecture by a distinguished guest speaker and followed by a formal dinner.
The name Alexis de Tocqueville may not be widely known, but it was -and continues to be- a name that expresses with particular elegance and distinction the project dreamt by IEP-UCP: a project of university autonomy, of orderly and quiet defense of freedom, of refusal of what Tocqueville called a "sterile conflict between Old Regime and Revolution" or "perpetual oscillation between serfdom and abuse".
