AN INTERNATIONAL MA PROGRAMME IN LISBON
The MA programme in Governance, Leadership and Democracy Studies trains students committed to promoting democratic practices, good governance and political leadership. This MA programme is unique in Europe and provides professional training through a combination of theory, research and practice that is essential for understanding and responding to the rapidly changing power dynamics in contemporary global politics. Our location in Lisbon also offers access to public institutions relevant to democratic governance, as well as to organisations in the social sector and to the business world.
Students on this programme attend lectures and seminars delivered by specialized Faculty, comprising academics and professionals who bring theoretical rigour and practical experience to the classroom.

The MA programme stands out by providing students with a Networking Hub and mentoring. Through the networking hub, students can visit organisations, take part in workshops and simulations, and engage directly with leaders and decision-makers from various sectors who share the challenges of the professional world.
In the tutoring sessions, following the model of the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, students are gathered in small groups and receive dedicated guidance from a lecturer who provides support in defining dissertation projects by exploring authors, concepts, methodologies and research questions, according to each student’s research interests.
